Will deliver his speech with the title 'The Brazilian biomass challenge – how the biomass sector in Brazil developed and where it is targeting to'.
The message from Russia will be delivered by Sergey Mazurenko, Head of Federal Agency for Science and Innovations Russia. Sergey Mazurenko will give an insight into the Russian Research and present the latest developments in the bioenergy sector. In this context he announces that Russia’s Energy Strategy for up to 2030 that is under development, now envisages increased share of renewable energy sources. Efforts have recently been undertaken by the Russian government to make more effective use of the national bioenergy resources. A bioenergy sector in the Russian economy is targeted to be established through integration of related sectors of agro-industrial complex, transport, petroleum refining industry, farm machine industry.
Sergey Mazurenko further states: 9 bioenergy-related projects have started to be funded though the Program 'R&D in priority fields of development of scientific-technological complex for the period 2007-2012'. Among them:
-
optimization of the universal biogas technology for environmentally clean use of natural gas;
-
developing methods of deep purification of biogas;
-
optimization of biogas technology for agro-industrial complexes;
-
bio-station for generation of electricity from agricultural residues;
-
a large-scale demonstration project that envisages construction of bioethanol production plant.
'The key drivers for development of bioenergy the sector in Russia are the need to ensure domestic (regional) energy security, agricultural interests, and Russia’s integration into the world energy markets and its competitiveness in these markets', says Mazurenko.
