Measures for more efficient energy consumption in Ukraine will lead to a better environment
Source: Sweco
Sweco has been commissioned by NEFCO, the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation, to investigate measures to achieve more efficient energy consumption in 14 Ukrainian cities. The aim is to reduce the cities’ spending on energy, reduce environmental impact and improve conditions for the local population.
The project, awarded to Sweco through a framework agreement with NEFCO, involves investigating current energy consumption in selected buildings in the cities and developing an action plan proposing energy efficiency measures. The buildings are mainly public premises such as preschools, schools and care facilities. Sweco's role also involves supporting the cities in the procurement process when the measures are to be implemented.
'It is an important project where we will be able to identify measures for many buildings that are in great need of refurbishment. It feels significant that we are contributing to a better indoor environment for children, students and patients in Ukraine, in close cooperation with NEFCO' , advises Conny Udd, Managing Director for Sweco's energy business in Sweden.
The Nordic Environment Finance Company NEFCO is an international financial institution specialising in environmental finance, owned by the Nordic countries' governments. Sweco's project lasts for three years and may be expanded with additional cities.
