Modern Utility Management: Fuelled For Growth
Aalborg Energie Technik specialises in the design, supply and maintenance of biomass boilers for plants throughout Europe. Established in Denmark in 1996, the company is headquartered in the city of Aalborg and its current product portfolio is further supported by a wide range of consultancy services relating to biomass fired CHP plants in both the manufacturing and energy sectors. It offers assistance with thermal layout and calculations of power systems, as well as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) calculations of flow and combustion processes. Furthermore, it helps its customers understand how to best optimise their power generation systems, whilst also working out ways in which they can improve their performance and sustainability.
Hans Erik Askou, one of Aalborg Energie Technik’s three founding members, still presides over the company’s operations today as the managing director. He elaborates upon how the company has grown since it was first founded: “My two colleagues and myself all had backgrounds in the boiler industry, and we worked together for the same company for several years before leaving to form our own. We saw that there was a bright future in the field of biomass renewable energy and so our aim was to lead the industry by breaking away and developing as a company on our own. In our 14 years of operations, we have expanded from just three employees to 75 and we have been able to develop a lot of expertise in the biomass energy sector.”
