Morgan falls hydro - Case study

The Morgan Falls Hydro plant was built in 1996 on the LaHave River near New Germany, Nova Scotia. The plant was built on the site of the abandoned pulp mill constructed by the Morgan Falls Pulp Co. in 1893.
CHC provided a 1500 mm horizontal axial flow Kaplan turbine heart to the previous owner in 2000, to retrofit to the existing S type configuration. In 2017, CHC refurbished the 1500 mm runner as part of a plant repowering project.
