MWA Technology aims to put RHI on the agenda at The Energy Event 2013
Making the most of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) will be the main topic for discussion when MWA Technology makes its debut at The Energy Event 2013 later this month (September 10-11).
The independent metering specialist is looking to raise awareness of the Government programme, which is looking to financially incentivise home owners, businesses and organisations to use renewable energy systems as a way of heating their properties.
According to Managing Director Martin Wardell, the scheme is currently suffering as a result of incorrect schematic diagrams and meters not being fitted in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions or Ofgem guidance.
The former chemical engineer believes that improved training and communication about the application of the meters is key and will result in greater efficiencies and cost savings.
MWA Technology, which is part of the Ofgem RHI Advisory Group, will have experts on hand to discuss this issue on Stand A33, as well as an array of specialist meters from Kamstrup, Itron and Sontex.
“There are some massive financial opportunities for people to benefit from RHI, but we have to help them understand what is involved and what they get out of it,” explained Martin, who formed the company 20 years ago.
“We have to move to sustainable energy and the Renewable Heat Incentive has its part to play. In order to measure how effective the savings are, we need to ensure that the right meters are used, as this will ultimately dictate your output and how much you will be paid.”
He went on to add: “We have been at the forefront of this programme and all of our technicians are trained in installation and helping our clients get the best out of it.
“Our involvement in Ofgem will help us influence the future direction of the scheme and iron out any initial issues.”
MWA Technology will be using its appearance at the Energy Event to celebrate its 20th anniversary and its range of services that include repair and refurbishment, testing, onsite support and assistance with automatic meter reading.
Visitors will be able to talk to technical experts and see firsthand the latest meters currently being used by distributors, contractors, OEMs and energy monitoring professionals across the UK.
Martin concluded: “There’s a lot of interesting things happening in energy management and we’re determined to be at the forefront of new developments.
“And this is no more evident than at home where we have been invited to be part of the MEBC Energy Efficiency Group run by Birmingham’s Green Commissioner Pat Laughlin.
“This group is determined to build more sustainable systems, create energy efficient homes/buildings and develop new ways of generating energy.”
