Source: Waga Energy
The WAGABOX unit at the Veolia landfill in Claye-Souilly (near Paris) was officially opened on May 18, 2022 by Lionel Beffre, prefect for Seine-et-Marne, in the presence of around 100 people including Anne Le Guennec, CEO of Veolia France Waste Recycling & Recovery Solutions, Alexandre Guyon, Veolia Regional Director, Ile-de-France, and Bertrand de Singly, GRDF Regional Customer Director, Ile-de-France.
Commissioned on March 9, 2022, the WAGABOX® unit is the largest Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) production unit in France and one of the largest in Europe. With an annual production of 120 GWh of RNG, it supplies approximately 20,000 households in the Paris area, saving 24,000 tons of CO2eq emissions through the substitution of RNG for fossil-based natural gas.
Operated by Veolia, a world leader in waste management, the Claye-Souilly landfill handles up to 1.5 million tons of waste each year and is one of the largest landfills in Europe.
