30 Jul, 2008. The photovoltaic solar energy group OPDE closed the 2007 fiscal year with a turnover of more than 160 million Euros, confirming their history of growth since their founding. Established four years ago, OPDE Group has today become one of the leading corporations in its sector in Spain, capturing 18% of the market share in 2007 in the photovoltaic solar energy market in our country.
OPDE Group provides global solutions for the photovoltaic market and is made up of the following companies: OPDE (the complete promotion and construction of solar energy plants) Mecasolar (design and manufacturing of dual-axis solar tracker) and Proinso (engineering and supply).
Relative to the forecast for 2008, the Group’s figures show a turnover of 130 million Euros in the first quarter, thus forecasting the year’s turnover at 320 million Euros. With its headquarters in Fustiñana (Navarra), the Group currently has 300 workers on staff.
OPDE Group currently is in the construction of 16 solar photovoltaic energy parks throughout Spain, which can be added to the ten currently working at full capacity and another six projects in exploration. These figures must also include the number of turnkey projects the corporation carries out for other clients, engineering firms, promoters and construction companies.
Among its promotions we can highlight the construction of the Photovoltaic Solar Energy Park in Almaraz (Cáceres), currently under construction, with its 20 megawatts, which upon its completion will be the largest photovoltaic solar energy park in Europe with dual-axis solar trackers.
This history of growth and the fact that the Group offers global solutions (from the design of the solar panels trackers to the construction and promotion of the Photovoltaic Solar Energy Park) has made OPDE deserve the “Best Revelation Company Award” from the newspaper Actualidad Economica. This will be awarded to the company executives in an official event celebrated on June 3 in the Gomaiz Castle (Navarra).
And recently, it has been named as AA member of the Management Board, a category granted to the six top Spanish companies in terms of turnover in the Spanish Photovoltaic Industry Association (ASIE), made up of 467 companies. OPDE´s role in ASIF in the upcoming six months will be key to having a “stable, reasonable and sustainable” regulatory framework for the photovoltaic industry.
Agreements with Investment Funds
Besides carrying out its promotions aimed at small investors, now the OPDE Group has an increasing number of agreements with European Investment Funds. An example is the recent agreement with the Dutch Investment Fund DIF, which AMB AMRO and Santander are also participants, for the purchase of several photovoltaic solar energy plants in Andalusia and Extremadura.
In fact, both companies have signed an initial turnkey purchase contract for the first plant (in Seville), at a value of 16 million Euros and are waiting for the signature of other operations under the same model.
OPDE Group (www.opde.net) is made up of the following companies: OPDE, Mecasolar and Proinso. The first is specialised in the comprehensive promotion and construction of photovoltaic solar energy plants. Mecasolar focuses its activity in the design and manufacturing of dual-axis solar trackers that come in two models: MS Tracker 10 and Ms Tracker 10+. Proinso is dedicated to the engineering and supply of modules, fixed structures and trackers, along with inverters, an international distributor for companies such as SMA in Germany, the world leaders in the sector.
