Project Kaunas Combined Heat and Power Plant - Case Study
- 26 MWh
- Kaunas, Lithuania
- 2018 March 24
Main equipment
- Fuel supply system - overground warehouse with moving platforms
- Fuel combustion system - Saxlund combustion grate with water-tube steam boiler
- Additional heat generation equipment - flue gas condensing economizer (FGCE)
- Flue gas cleaning system - multicyclones
Purpose of this power plant – provision of heating to the district heating networks in Kaunas and “green” energy generation, 8059 hours per year.
LOW EMISSIONS LEVEL. Closed automatic biofuel warehouse with moving floors ensures low levels of dust emission at the territory
ANTI-LIMESCALE PROTECTION. Chemically treated water preparation system (two lines with 3 m3/h capacity each and total reserve volume of treated water container of 7 m3) ensures optimal operation of the steam boiler and prevents limescale build-up.
COST-SAVING. The turbine generator produces “green” energy, which allows lowering the internal use energy costs and heating prices for the city’s consumers of heat and hot water.
ADDITIONAL HEAT GENERATION. Flue gas condensing economizer collects residual heat from the flue gas, which is then supplied to the heating network.
EFFICIENT UTILIZATION. Due to efficiency of multicyclones and the additional water cleaning equipment of the flue gas condensing economizer, by maintaining the required pH level, excess condensate is removed as wastewater.
