Regulatory Association & Research Institute Launch COVID-19 Online News & Resources Tracker
March 24, 2020 -- The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and its research arm, the National Regulatory Research Institute, have launched an online resource site that includes information on state utility actions related to Coronavirus Disease 2019.
Using initial information from state commissions, the Edison Electric Institute (whose members are investor-owned electric companies) and other sources, the COVID-19 News & Resources site resides on the NARUC website and includes a state response tracker (with links to state orders and press releases), NARUC statements and links to other important resources. As new information becomes available, it's expected that other industry trade groups and related organizations will contribute content to the tracker.
'These resources will allow our state members, industry, the media and the general public to stay abreast of the range of state and industry actions pertaining to COVID-19,' said Mississippi Commissioner and NARUC President Brandon Presley.
'The state action tracker underscores not only our need to capture information in as close to real time as possible, but it is an excellent example of NRRI's and NARUC's ability to work quickly and collaboratively with state members and industry groups alike,' said NRRI Board Chair, Rhode Island Commissioner Marion Gold.
The resource site can be accessed at https://bit.ly/COVID19NARUC.
NARUC is a non-profit organization founded in 1889 whose members include the governmental agencies that are engaged in the regulation of utilities and carriers in the fifty States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. NARUC's member agencies regulate telecommunications, energy, and water utilities. NARUC represents the interests of state public utility commissions before the three branches of the Federal government.
