Remote operation of the Huampanà Hydroelectric Power Plant - Enel Peru
In Peru, many power generation plants were affected by the government decree that restricts the movement of people due to Covid-19, since local operators are part of the risk group. In order to solve the operational deficiency and return its machines to the electrical system, Enel, owner of several plants in Peru, sought the help of REIVAX to implement a remote operation system at the Huampaní hydroelectric plant in Chaclacayo.
REIVAX has over 30 years of experience with automation and regulation systems and, anticipating market trends, the company has invested in innovations that allow the remote operation of its equipment. In this way, the plant can be controlled through an operations center or even another plant, as was the case with the Huampaní plant, which is currently being controlled from the operations room of Central Moyopampa.
The supervisory systems implemented by REIVAX support remote operation in addition to the availability of redundancy, allowing the simultaneous existence of a local server at the plant and a second one at another location. In the case of the Huampaní and Moyopampa plants, the 20 km that separate the two plants is interconnected through a radio link that was used by REIVAX. After the configuration of the redundant SDCS servers and controllers in Huampaní, one of the servers was moved to the Moyopampa plant to act in the remote operation of the Huampaní plant. This is an example of how remote operation can be implemented in a power generation plant, and REIVAX is available to help you choose the best option in all of your supplied projects.
