Scottish government launches GBP 15m energy efficiency scheme
Source: Energy Saving Trust
The government in Scotland is investing £15 million in a scheme to improve the energy efficiency of nearly 100,000 homes.
According to the authorities, homeowners in the country will be able to access free or discounted loft insulation, free energy audits and more information on the best ways to save energy.
The plan will help create 900 jobs including positions for energy advisors and insulation installers.
Alex Neil, Scottish housing and communities minister, said: 'Making Scotland's homes better insulated will be key to achieving our ambitious climate change targets.
'By offering householders help with making their homes more energy efficient, people will have the opportunity to do their bit for the environment.'
Households on low incomes will be offered free energy efficiency measures while many will receive visits from doorstep assessors, employed to gather data on a home and to assess whether support is needed.
The Scottish government is looking to reduce the country's carbon emissions by 42 per cent by 2020.
