Seminar will brief housing industry on regulatory changes affecting heat networks
Latest changes to regulations affecting the community and district heating sector
Latest changes to regulations affecting the community and district heating sector and current industry updates will be discussed at a free breakfast seminar in central London on Thursday 18 May.
The event is being hosted by heat network specialist Switch2 Energy and lawyers Winckworth Sherwood, in partnership with the Association of Decentralised Energy (ADE), which has recently set up the District Heating Task Force.
The event is open to all those involved in district heating. It will be of particular interest to heat scheme owners from housing associations, local authorities and the private development market. Attendees will be updated on requirements under the Heat Network (Metering and Billing) Regulations 2014 and briefed on how to achieve compliance and meet best practice.
Guest speaker Sharon Youssefi, Policy Manager for the ADE will discuss future policy and regulation, and explain the role of the new District Heating Task Force and how it intends to deliver a subsidy-free heat network market with strong protections for consumers.
Colin Hall, Partner at Winckworth Sherwood will advise on the latest regulatory changes affecting the UK's heat networks and the steps heat scheme suppliers must take to achieve compliance.
Ian Allan, Head of R&D at Switch2 Energy, will explain how to develop metering strategies that comply with latest requirements of the Heat Network Regulations, with real scheme examples.
'Statistics released by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), which enforces the Heat Network Regulations, show that 17,215 of UK heat networks have achieved the first compliance step of notifying their scheme', said Ian Allan. 'BEIS has indicated that the regulation will be robustly enforced, so it is very important that heat scheme owners attend this seminar to understand the regulation and how to comply.'
