Siemens to deliver turbines to Morocco`s Noor projects
Siemens is to provide three steam turbines for Morocco's Noor II and III solar power plants by the end of 2016, local media reported June 15. The projects are being developed by ACWA Power.
The 200 MW Noor II plant will use parabolic trough technology and is scheduled to start up in 2017. The 150 MW Noor III plant will use a central tower system and is set to come online in 2018.
Recent reductions in CSP costs are illustrated by the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) signed by ACWA Power for Noor II and Noor III.
The PPAs for Noor II and Noor III were set at prices of $157/MWh and $163/MWh respectively in 2015, which was 15% lower than the PPA signed by ACWA Power for Noor I in 2012 ($189/MWh).
