Sustainable energy supply and greater energy efficiency
Kirn, 26/09/2012. SIMONA AG is one of the first plastics processing companies worldwide to introduce an Energy Management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001. The goals are sustainable energy supply at affordable prices and an increase in energy efficiency. The Energy Management system is aimed at reducing production costs, encouraging inhouse innovation and extending the service life of operating systems.
A series of measures have already been implemented within the framework of Energy Management. Among these is the installation of a comprehensive system for optimising energy load to avoid peaks in electricity demand. The company has introduced new metering units or extended their use in the areas of electricity, gas, steam, compressed air and fuel. The resulting data is systematically recorded and evaluated. Consumption monitoring allows technical errors to be identified at an early stage and preventative measures to be introduced. The comparison of consumption indicators and production data highlights areas where potential economies can be gained.
The Energy Management system is part of the SIMONA Management system. The integration of quality, environmental and energy management forms the basis for continuous improvements to both products and process, for the sustainability and improvement in the company’s energy foot-print and for the reduction of CO 2 emissions.
