Sponsoring the 11th World Congress on Anaerobic Digestion (23 - 27 September 2007 Brisbane, Australia)
Source: Cambi Group AS
This is a tri-annual International Water Association event, focusing on Anaerobic Digestion, not merely of sludge. Cambi and Stance Environmental (Cambi’s Australian representative) were both sponsors and exhibited in a joint stand. About 350 delegates participated. About 80 delegates did a study-tour of the Oxley Creek Cambi plant, proudly hosted by Brisbane Water, along with Cambi reps. Also, Brisbane Water left nice post-cards with Cambi Oxley Creek night-picture for all attendees (stating 55%VS destruction, 8.5% feed, 30-35% DS biosolids).
Dr. Damian Batstone, University of Queensland and Robin Lewis, General Manager Brisbane Water, both presented papers about the Cambi plant at Oxley Creek sludge centre, Brisbane, during the plenum section. Robin Lewis announced the successful take-over of the plant, which he said had met all performance guarantees: 50% VSR (volatile solids reduction) and 30% cake dry solids. They were “very, very happy with the performance” of the plant, He underlined that this is aeration bio-sludge only, which without Cambi + digestion dewatered to 12-14% DS and was nearly impossible to digest (trials with ultrasound showed merely 20-25% VSR). He also mentioned a 65-70% decrease in truck movements due Cambi, or 2000 less truck movement per year, mostly through Brisbane city.
