Sustainable power firm Ener-g expands to meet demand
Due to high demand, sustainable power firm Ener-g has opened another factory in Salford, Greater Manchester to supply its renewable and energy efficient generator units.
The firm, which manufactures combined heat and power and biogas generators is having to increase its rate of production by 50 per cent to meet global orders.
Ener-g doubled its original manufacturing space over the last year with the first Salford factory. With this new additional factory, which was converted from an existing building, the firm has trebled its original manufacturing space to 34,000 sq ft.
Ener-g group managing director Derek Duffill said: “Our innovative products and services are in demand across the globe – fuelling our ongoing growth and reflected in our turnover of £90 million, which has grown four-fold over the past six years.”
The CHP systems create electricity and heat simultaneously, so they can be used as a heat and electricity source. They can also be fuelled with natural or renewable biogases taken from landfill.
The firm is continuing to grow by recently moving its energy-from-waste business Energos UK offices from Salford to bigger premises in Warrington and hopes to expand its workforce by 50 extra people over the next two years.
The Isle of Wight has lately opened an Energos energy recovery facility and there are another six of these plants in Europe. Construction of further facilities in Scotland, Lincolnshire, Merseyside and Newport will be underway over the next year with other developments in Londonderry and Derbyshire and current construction of a facility in Sarpsborg, Norway.
