The rooftop power station that’s saving £16,500 a month!
It’s been dubbed “The ultimate rooftop power station”, producing enough electricity to look after the needs of 60 houses.
This huge installation, with its latest phase completed Friday May 3rd, is one of the largest factory solar panel projects
in the UK, saving Great Barr, West Midlands extrusions company Selecta Systems, £16,500 a month in electricity bills.
It produces enough electricity to keep the huge factory working round the clock seven days a week and has been completed
in just seven weeks - two weeks ahead of schedule - producing the clients a bonus worth several thousands of pounds.
The installation was handled by Rugeley, Staffordshire and Birmingham company, A1 Solar UK Ltd. Managing director
Paul Grinsell said: “Detailed planning was the key to the smooth running of this project, along with a confident and
highly experienced team.”
“This is the forerunner of many similar schemes planned for the UK, as companies large and small realise just how
much money that can be saved, while ensuring continuous power to run a factory.”
Technical information:
A1 Solar UK used 10,000 meters of cable and 60,000 bolts to fix the roof mountings. They installed several huge
Fronius Inverters and various units to convert the DC power into AC, along with associated control equipment.
The system is now generating 400KWp instantly in optimum conditions, 289,332 kWh per year and will generate
6.85MW of electricity over 20 years. On today’s prices this would involve a saving of more than £4m on electricity bills -
while also reducing carbon ommissions, with a tax saving of over 59 tonnes.
Selecta Systems chose A1 Solar UK Ltd after a successful first phase was also completed ahead of time.
Selecta Systems also supply solar PV kits to the commercial, domestic and leisure industries.
