UrbanTec 2012 and ORGATEC to be held in parallel
UrbanTec, the urbanization-themed congress trade fair, will take place from 24th to 26th October this year, in parallel with ORGATEC in Cologne. ORGATEC, which will be held from 23rd to 27th October, is the worldwide sector meeting place for modern working environments. More than 60,000 trade visitors* from 110 countries attended the last ORGATEC, the leading international business platform for offices and office facilities — and almost half of these visitors came from abroad. In 2012 ORGATEC visitors will be able to use their admission tickets to also enter UrbanTec, where they can find information about the product range and themes of that trade fair as well. The same parallel access is open to UrbanTec visitors. ORGATEC will occupy Halls 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.2 and part of Hall 10.1, thereby creating a direct transition to UrbanTec.
UrbanTec presents cross-industry solutions and systems for meeting urban challenges. It will address questions such as “What could the urban conditions for the working world of the future look like?”. On all three days of the event, an international group of speakers will provide information about potential challenges, possible innovative solutions and the specific framework conditions of future cities. Thematic points of contact between the two events include issues such as future changes in working habits. As urbanization continues, more and more jobs will be relocated to conurbations with a high population density. Accordingly, cities will have to plan and create large numbers of modern working environments. Given the immense energy requirements of densely populated urban centres, the creation of more energy-efficient buildings is essential. Therefore, one of the overarching themes of the second day of the congress will be “Energy-Efficient Buildings”. That day's events will focus on aspects such as energy-efficient building technologies and comprehensive renovation concepts.
Areas where the two trade fairs overlap include product segments such as building technology, building automation and building energy efficiency, which will be the focus of the UrbanTec special show “Urbane Arbeitswelten” (Urban Working Environments).
Additionally, the City of Moscow will present a concept for relocating a large number of government institutions and the city administration to a new city centre, thereby creating living and working space for more than two million people. These themes will be of particular interest to many of the people who come to ORGATEC, including visitors from municipalities such as administrative and public facility decision-makers, as well as architects, visitors from planning offices and facility managers.
Similarly, visitors to UrbanTec can find information about pioneering solutions for modern working environments at the stands of ORGATEC exhibitors and in the event's supporting programme. The ORGATEC “Trendforum”, for example, will address the future of (office) work and will focus on current trends and practical examples from around the world.
Guided tours of the parallel event will be offered to the trade visitors of each fair.
* 50,237 trade visitors, according to the guidelines of the Society for Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition Statistics (FKM), and an additional 10,946 visitors who made use of reduced-price admission tickets organized through cooperative agreements with businesses, the media and professional associations.
