Vapor Blasting vs Wet & Dry Ice Blasting

There are significant differences between vapor blasting and wet or dry ice blasting. Vapor blasting uses dry media while introducing water into a compressed air stream. Wet and dry ice blasting does not require any injection of a secondary water source in the stream.
The short definition of vapor blasting can best be described as:
“Vapor blasting is when you use a dry blasting media and introduce water into the blast stream, all propelled by compressed air.”
Vapor blasting is a modern term coined by the restoration industry. It was originally called “wet blasting”, and later referred to as “slurry blasting”, “dustless blasting”, or “liquid blasting”.
The term “vapor blasting” can cause some confusion for newcomers to media blasting because it suggests that surfaces are being treated with an extremely non-abrasive. The term vapor can give the impression that the treatment is a highly non-abrasive one, whereby the surfaces are not blasted with any sort of abrasive media. Nothing could be further from the truth.
