The international wind energy industry has an unavoidable appointment in the calendar for 2009: Wind PowerExpo, the VII International Wind Power Trade Fair, which will take place from September 22nd to the 24th of the current year in Zaragoza. The organizers of the event, Feria de Zaragoza and Infopower, have put in a lot of effort to go through a quantitative and qualitative jump in its consolidation as Southern Europe’s great international trade fair and as a privileged showcase of the Spanish wind industry, whose leadership is recognized throughout the world.
In fact, the wind energy sector is one of the most dynamic of the world’s economy and with a splendid future ahead, as it has become evident in the recent European congress EWEC 2009 in which it was announced that wind power might supply the equivalent of 60% of European homes in 2020, as in that year the installed wind power capacity will be 230 GW.
The European Commissioner for Energy himself, Andris Pielbags, affirmed that 'wind power can substitute to a great extent the pollutant and finite fuels which we at present depend on'. Pielbags has remarked that European companies have two thirds of the world wind power technology market, valued at 35,000 million euros.
