Filtration of hydrocarbon-polluted rainwater in the containment bunds under electrical transformers. Filters that guarantee contamination level of discharged rainwater.

This system, designed to filter hydrocarbon-polluted rainwater, works by gravity and is designed and assembled in Europe. It comprises an oleophilic and hydrophobic polymer that permanently absorbs the hydrocarbons.
In the event of an oil leak, this polymer reacts and forms a plug, thereby preventing any liquid from leaking into the environment.
An external pre-filter is needed to reduce the risk of premature clogging of the filter caused by dust and sediment contained in the hydrocarbon-polluted water, as well as a safety siphon.

Our FILTRELEC ECODESIGN® rainwater filter system must be fitted to the disposal valve. For bigger flow rates, several filters can be fitted in parallel.
To avoid premature clogging, we recommend using a pre-filtering system (screw-on external pre-filter, metal pre-filter unit, etc.).

Longer lifespan: the filters only need to be replaced when they are saturated with hydrocarbons.
Waste treatment: as an option, a « PC Back » unit is available, which recycles and treats the saturated filters so that they can be correctly disposed of at a waste collection centre.
Filters used on electrical transformer containment bunds used to be single-use filters: once saturated with oil, the filter had to be replaced with a new filter. Whereas the FILTRELEC F5 system comes with a repleacable cartridge: the filter cartridge just has to be changed.

This filter is intended for users of high-voltage electrical transformers. This is because power transformers contain a significant quantity of oil, usually mineral oil, which is non-biodegradable.
In addition, in the event of an oil leak, the rainwater dripping down the walls becomes impregnated with hydrocarbons and can pollute the atmosphere, especially ground water. To limit this risk, electric power substations are fitted with oil recovery systems. These systems usually comprise containment bunds or retention pits fitted with oil absorbent water filters.
The FILTRELEC® system performs 3 retention-related functions:
- Constant disposal of rainwater

- Instantaneous shut-off in the event of a massive hydrocarbon leak.
At the filter outlet, the purified water contains less than 5 mg of hydrocarbons per litre of water: in compliance with the Water Act.
