Nordic (India) Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
Nordic India is established by seasoned entrepreneurs having a combined 100 years of experience in sales, manufacturing, and engineering services. The promoters have held executive positions with leading multinational contract electronic manufacturers. India with 16% of the world population only consumes about 3.4% of the energy produced in the world. The per capita consumption of electricity in India (about 400 kW per person per annum) is among one of the lowest in the world. Over one third of India’s population has no access to grid electricity today. In recent years, India’s energy consumption has been increasing at a rapid rate due to population growth and economic development. Poor quality of power supply and frequent power cuts and shortages impose a heavy burden on India’s fast-growing trade and industry. The supply demand gap of electricity where it does exist has averaged 8-10% over the last ten years.

Coal and oil based power plants constitute over 55% of the power generation capacity existing in India. India today imports about ¾ of its crude oil requirements and its coal imports are expected to rise to 50 million tons in 2010—11 from the current fiscal year value of 30 million tons. To sustain its 9% economic growth, India must increase its primary energy supply by 5.8% annually. Renewable energy sources form a cornerstone of India’s energy security strategy to reduce its dependence on coal and oil imports, while increasing the power generation capacity required for fueling its economic growth. The National Action of Climate Change established by the Prime Minister envisages 15% renewable energy in the generation mix by 2020, a 1% increment year on year from 2010 to 2010.
