ICC - Waste to Heat System
ICC’s Modular Energy System ('MES') are designed to convert organic waste from food, yard & garden, wood, construction and demolition, etc., into Green Energy (heat & electricity). The conversion from waste to energy takes place through a series of steps.
Features
- Optimized and standardized design to generate a nominal peak output of 10 MW of electricity.
- Designed to take full advantage of the UK ROC Credit program.
- Heat recovery, steam loop and generator are based on standardized and existing
- technology.
- Compact and space efficient design.
- Innovative waste-heat pre-drying system.
Advantages
- Uses readily available waste wood to produce electrical power and heat.
- Gasification offers much cleaner combustion and higher thermal efficiency than traditional incineration.
- The gasification process retains pollutants such as Sulphur and heavy metals in the ash rather than air discharge.

ENERGY System is a comprehensive solution to produce electrical power and heat from wood waste. Over 120,000 tonnes of waste wood products annually are converted to heat with an innovative gasification technology to produce power with standard steam turbine technology.
The standardized ICC ENERGY System will produce up to 10 MW of renewable source electricity for export to the grid.
The Gasification Process
Wood fuel is fed to the gasification chamber, falls onto a grate and forms a fuel pile. The under fire fan forces the air through the grates delivering the oxygen needed for the gasification process. As the wood works its way down to the grate it dries, its volatiles are pyrolyzed and its fixed carbon is converted to carbon monoxide and Hydrogen.
This synthetic gas is then combusted in a secondary chamber which produces the heat required for the steam turbine power generation system.
