Site Survey
From this point forward we may have to charge for our services depending on time involved and distance traveled. To ensure the viability of your wind project you should always conduct a comprehensive wind feasibility study. Our wind feasibility study provides you with vital understanding of your wind resource, planning constraints, estimated energy yield, potential turbine locations and grid connection options. The study includes a visit to the proposed site and all findings presented in a comprehensive pdf report. We give an honest opinion of your site and there are no commitments when undertaking our feasibility study.
Site survey and report will evaluate:
Site survey and report will evaluate:
- Wind resource with regards to the the local topography with respect to wind flow and obstructions
- Planning constraints
- Estimated energy capture
- Estimate the annual electrical output from a range of suitable wind turbines with appropriate adjustments for local conditions and expected wind regime.
- Grid connection options
- Cable routes
- Assess the potential impact on the local area including loss of visual amenity and noise.
- Inspect the local area in respect of any radar or telecommunication equipment with which a wind turbine might interfere.
- Check the accessibility of the site for the delivery and installation of a wind turbine.
- Potential turbine locations
- Consult with the client/owner to clarify their instructions and discuss local factors which may be relevant.
- Analysis on-site electricity use and determine the added benefit this might bring to a wind turbine or solar PV installation.
Further to site survey Report
- We will advise on national planning policy for wind energy schemes and highlight local factors which may affect the proposed development.
- Carry out searches for land designations that may prevent a wind turbine installation.
- Provide technical information (in electronic format where appropriate) that is likely to be required by the LPA relating to noise, visual impact and shadow flicker
- Investigate potential telecommunication issues and assess likelihood of radar impact with CAA and MOD.
- Select the most suitable turbine(s)
- Conduct an economic profile of the project. This will include estimated installation costs, Feed in Tariff payments and expected returns. Simple pay-back periods and ROI are also given.
- Estimate the expected CO2 emission savings of the scheme.
- Prepare an initial photomontage of turbine in surrounding landscape using industry standard software and Ordnance Survey Digital Terrain data to ensure appropriate turbine positioning and scaling.
- Recommend the next course of action for each stage of the report.
- At all stages the report will identify any major constraints that may affect the proposal
