Water/Wastewater & Energy Service
HRG provides comprehensive engineering services related to the design and operation of water and wastewater systems for government and private sector clients. This includes the design of collection, treatment, and distribution facilities as well as testing and remediation to ensure you are in compliance with ever-changing environmental regulations.
Quality Service
Since 1962, we have enjoyed a reputation for excellence in the water and wastewater industry. This reputation is based on our in-depth knowledge of current and developing regulations, our skilled application of proven and cutting-edge technologies, and our operator-focused design regimen. From the founding of our firm, we have succeeded by identifying the unique needs of our clients and developing customized solutions to meet those needs in the most cost-effective manner possible.
This quality service is why several of our retainer clients have been working with us for more than three decades, and we continue to add new clients to our base at record rates.
Innovative Approaches
Our focus on current and future technologies is second to none in the industry, and our ability to make regulations understandable and compliance achievable makes for happy and satisfied clients. The Safe Drinking Water Act and its amendments present many challenges to water providers and their engineers, but rapidly developing membrane technologies will provide solutions to these challenges as new regulations arise. HRG designed the first municipal membrane treatment plant for drinking water in Pennsylvania and has applied similar technology to many other water treatment projects throughout the region.
As evidenced by the large number of Growing Greener Innovative Technology Grants won by our clients, we employ a wide variety of new technologies in wastewater treatment projects, including Membrane Biological Reactors, Biological Nutrient Removal (and its many variations), peak scalping and water reuse. These cutting-edge approaches combined with existing, proven technologies are applied to a host of challenges such as the Capacity, Management, Operations and Maintenance rules; sanitary sewer overflows; combined sewer overflows; and municipal industrial pretreatment programs. By using these technologies, we minimize costs associated with operations, maintenance and sludge disposal while maximizing nutrient removal.
As time goes by, aging facilities must be addressed. The lives of the 1970s’ treatment plants are ending, and the sewer systems they serve grow in infiltration and inflow.
We understand these complicated technical issues and consistently provide innovative solutions to difficult problems. We can also address organization issues such as regionalization and consolidation, which may provide significant cost savings through economies of scale that cannot be ignored.
Value-Added Service
While our engineering expertise will solve many challenges, we understand that financial services are critical to your success. Therefore, our financial specialists help you identify the lowest costs for your project, determine whether borrowing or “pay-as-you-go” options are preferable, and compare user fees against tapping and connection fees. We also provide accounting and budgeting assistance, valuation studies, and long-range capital plans.
