Wave Energy Converter (WEC) for Offshore Oil & Gas Platforms - Oil, Gas & Refineries

The power consumption for drilling and extracting oil is immense and represents about 5% of the wellhead production, totalling 16 TWh per year of energy, the same as the yearly consumption of a country like Croatia.

Wave Energy is perfectly suited to power O&G platforms, replacing the expensive fuel required for the energy intensive operation. For the 500 O&G rigs that have a cable connection to shore, this could be used to export wave energy to land as well.
