A refrigeration system is conceived and analysed wherein high grade waste heat from the gas cooler of a TCRS is utilised to operate a single effect H
2
O-LiBr VARS. A simulation program is developed for computation of optimum gas cooler pressure of TCRS. The COP and ? ex
for individual TCRS and VARS as well as for the combined system have been evaluated. For different values of evaporator temperature and T4
in TCRS, the increase in refrigerating capacity for the combined system ranges from 3.52?49.80%, while the COP and ? ex
increase by 3.72?48.96% and 1.40?10.18% respectively over TCRS.Keywords: energy analysis, exergy analysis, carbon dioxide, transcritical CO2 compression refrigeration, vapour absorption, waste heat, vapour absorption, optimum gas cooler pressure, simulation, evaporator temperature, refrigerating capacity
