Situation

The 2.8km2 big Pitsea landfill is located 50km east of London. It takes 2 to 3 years until the process of a landfill releases constantly gas. To compensate the initial unsteadiness, the 2 compact units with high temperature flares have been installed in two stages. A gas-to-energy project is in planning.

• Conditioning of the gas for the combustion
• Complete, low emission combustion

Two HOFGAS®- Ready 2500 compact units were selected.

• Each flare with a max. gas flow rate of 2’500 Nm3/h
• Max. total burner capacity 25MW
• Regulation range 1 : 5
• Low emission combustion at 1`000..1’200°C
• Residence time min. 0.3 sec
• Plant control via PLC
• Automatic control of combustion temperature
