Production and characterisation of bio-oil from biomass fast pyrolysis in a fluidised bed reactor
Courtesy of Inderscience Publishers
Biomass fast pyrolyis in a fluidised bed reactor was carried out. Results showed that the highest bio-oil yield (62.39 wt%) was obtained from sawdust at 500?C. Bio-oil yield was influenced by biomass pyrolysis temperature from 450?C to 550?C, and maximum bio-oil yield of 53.33 wt% was achieved from pine sawdust with particle size less than 1 mm at 500?C. At 500?C, the bio-oil yield increased from 51.09 wt% to 62.60 wt% of sawdust pyrolyisis as vapour residence time decreased from 1.50 s to 0.80 s. The bio-oil was composed of a very complex mixture of oxygenated hydrocarbons from GC-MS analysis.
