Project 16 MM SCFD Tail Gas Combustion - Case Study
Project Overview:
Gas Production Facilities Jambi Merang Development Project – a Joint Operating Body (JOB) Pertamina - Hess – Talisman project. This project was an EPCI Pre-Commissioning (engineering, procurement, construction, installation and pre-commissioning) gas processing program comprising four (4) work sites with the complete conditioning of gas and liquid. The program capacity being 120 BBTUD or equivalent to a 113 MMSCFD flow-rate. TRIPATRA was awarded the contract in 2007, and the contract value was USD154.4 million; In 2008, Questor Technology was requested by PT Tripatra (EPC), Jakarta, to design and develop a waste gas incineration system to handle the sour gas (CO2 and H2S), sour tank vapours and tail gas at a the gas plant facility in the Jambi Merang Development. Q3000 Thermal Oxidizer which has been designed for a CO2 vent gas flow rate of 48,423 lb/hr. Of particular note was the requirement to incorporate five (5) waste gas streams into one system. Questor’s patented design allows for the accommodation of multiple waste gas streams of various composition and flow rates. This unit was designed with a CEMS (continuous emissions monitor system) that continuously demonstrate the incinerators high performance. The unit was successfully commissioned in 2010 and is still in operation today. The unit was designed to handle both day to day operations, maintenance and emergency shut downs. The Questor unit was chosen over John Zinc because of our ability to handle multiple streams, cost (1/2 the $) and simplicity of operation without complicated controls needed. The Jambi Merang project came onstream in April 2011, three months ahead of schedule, and produced 3,100 boe/d during the year. Jambi Merang Project execution has won some awards from the Government of Indonesia, Asia Pacific and World Level, they are: • IAMPI Award (Ikatan Ahli Manajemen Proyek Indonesia) on December 3rd, 2011. Prize Winner in the IPMA International Project Excellence Award 2012, category mega- sized projects • The APFPM Award (The Asia Pacific Federation of Project Management) in Hongkong, on March 17th, 2012. • Best Project Excellence in Mega Sized Projects for EPC Jambi Merang Development Gas Production & Facilities. 26th IPMA World Congress, 29 – 31 Oct. 2012, In Greece, On October 31st, 2013.
