Project - Ruselokka school, Oslo, Norway
The new Ruseløkka public school in the heart of norwegian capital Oslo is was built with bricks recycled from the original building. Their custom solar facade was designed to harmoniously blend with the bricks to ensure the new building naturally harmonises with the surrounding architecture, thereby making the energy producing BiPV cladding a natural addition to the citys architectural language.
The shingled solar facade uses individually tilted modules with structurally-coloured and satinated glass to provide rhythm, depth, and dynamic colours which beautifully match the character of the bricks. Manufactured in Denmark using sustainable energy and mostly reclaimed materials, this facade has a low environmental footprint and will provide carbon-free electricity for generations of students.
The unitised cladding and tool-free installation ensure a resilient and durable facade that enables it to absorb thermal movements. It will pay for itself many times over during its long service life.
