Archer services

Archer, through its joint venture Iceland Drilling, provides significant expertise and experience within deep geothermal drilling in challenging conditions. We own and operate a fleet of four hydraulic drilling rigs specialized for high temperature geothermal drilling that can operate world wide. We have drilled wells for customers globally, in countries such as Iceland, New Zealand, the Philippines, Nicaragua, Dominica, and several more. Over the last 20 years, Iceland Drilling has drilled over 300 deep geothermal wells, up to ~4,600 meters deep and up to ~450°C in temperature. Our service offering ranges from providing only rig and crew to fully integrated drilling services, including casings and wellheads, cementing and drilling materials, directional drilling services, well logging, etc. All drilling services, third party services and all material (wellheads, steel, mud and casing) can be provided by Iceland Drilling.

Geothermal resources are not only used for electricity but also for direct usages, such as space heating, greenhouses and more. Archer, through its joint venture Iceland Drilling, offers drilling services for geothermal district heating. We provide nine rigs with experienced crews and specialized equipment needed to drill wells for residential and industrial heating. Today about 9/10 of all households in Iceland are heated with geothermal energy. Our aim is to accelerate the industrialization of district heating and cooling projects in Europe.

Archer, through Vertikal Service AS, provides engineering, project management, inspection, installation and maintenance services to energy customers in the onshore and offshore wind industry. By using methods such as industrial rope access techniques, we perform wind turbine services, including retrofit, installation, inspection, blade repair, and more. We have service frame agreements with WTG majors Siemens Gamesa and Vestas and. Having performed WTG services for the world’s first commercial floating wind farm, Hywind Scotland, we also provide our services to the offshore wind market.
