The OPDEplus drive can be reconfigurable as an AFE (Active Front End) regenerative unit. In this operating mode, the power rebound from/to the mains is constantly optimally regulated to guarantee unitary power factor, more efficient than the more classic resistive bank dissipation. The regenerative unit currently UL certified is the XL in the 40A, 48A, 60A versions. OPDEplus AFE versions from 70A to 510A will also be available soon.

The term FFE (Fundamental Front End) refers to a bidirectional AC-DC converter in which DC Voltage is not controlled. It works as a diode bridge but with the recovery of energy to the grid. FFE only works on the fundamental component (50-60Hz) with no PWM modulation.
