An important pillar of BIOENERGY 2020+ GmbH is the contracted research that is predominantly situation in the research area of the Kplus program. In addition, themes of basic and applied research as well as market research and development questions are to be dealt with combined with the execution of technology monitoring. We constitute the capital for the contracted research from direct commissioning through clients or from various national and international research and technology programmes. In the context of cooperative projects with companies, we assume the leadership and coordination of all intermediate steps, ranging from the application to the necessary project reporting until up until the realisation of the protection strategy (patent, etc.) for the project results.

The bottle-neck for efficient recovery of biogas from cellulose-containing substrates such as energy crops (straw, grass, etc.) and organic by-products (spent grains in breweries) is the process of hydrolysis. Biotechnological processes (providing the addition of enzymes and micro-organisms) and thermal pre-treatment steps will be assessed and subse-quently demonstrated on a technical level. The utilization of renewable resources will continue to be a pillar in the production of biogas. New plants and concepts of plant-breeding will have to be developed in order to fulfil the demands of the changing environment (e.g. reduction of precipitation).

Further development of DFB gasification (steam gasification by means of a dual fluidized bed), thermo-chemical conversion of biogenic raw materials, residues and waste into high-quality syngas.
