Accelerated Power Development & Reforms Programme (APDRP)

In power sector, the distribution system plays a vital role where, the gap between the average revenue realisation and the average cost of supply has been constantly increasing since a decade. This is causing the state electricity boards (SEB) run under huge losses. In view of the losses faced by the SEB`s, the government of India/MOP has undertaken the APDRP with the aim of restoring the commercial viability in the distribution sector.

Field Engineering Services

The Energy Conservation & Development Division is providing interdisciplinary field study packages to thermal power stations, hydel power stations and process industries on energy audit, energy conservation, energy efficiency, improvement, remaining life estimation, renovation, modernisation, upgradation and life extension of components, sub-systems and plants.

Energy Audit Services

Energy audit is a technique used to establish pattern of energy use; identify how and where loses are occurring; and suggest appropriate economically viable engineering solutions to conserve various forms of energy in the system studied. Instrumented and diagnostic energy audits (with aims ranging from identifying ways of conserving energy to evolution of a new blue print for the energy system) provide insight into the modes of better utilization of fossil resources and high-grade energy and exploration of renewable energy options.

Design Cell & Consultancy Services at TTS

Scaled down models of Transmission line towers like self supporting, guyed towers with hinge supports, triangular or rectangular based towers and special structures like river crossing towers etc., micro wave tower / antenna towers (pin jointed structures that are designed with angle sections) can be tested with adequate precision. A number of projects taken up have been completed with the objective of reducing the weight of transmission towers there by achieving considerable savings.

BESCOM-DAS Consultancy

The main objective of the project is to reduce the outages in power supply and thereby build customer satisfaction by implementing Distribution Automation System for Bangalore city. The Consultancy agreement for this prestigious project has been signed between BESCOM, CPRI, and KEMA. Shri. Eshwarappa, Honorable Minister of Energy, Government of Karnataka inaugurated the start of the BESCOM-DAS project during the Kick-Off meeting held at Bangalore on 10th July 2008. Shri. K. Jayaraj, Principal Secretary to the Government of Karnataka’s Energy Department stressed the speedy execution of the project while maing his opening remarks. Shri. Tushar Giri Nath, MD, BESCOM welcomed the gathering and gave an outline on the DAS project.
