Planning

Cundall can assist in realising the potential of a site or development during the planning stage. Our services include: ESD Planning Overlays - working with either government and private sector clients to translate policy and legislation into practical and performance specifications / briefs for the design and operation of greener buildings. Site Analysis - identifying the ESD opportunities and constraints of a site and assisting the project team to develop layout, massing and infrastructure concepts either during masterplanning or for design competitions. In addition to passive design and natural ventilation consideration, this can also include assessment of wind effects and solar access on external thermal comfort.

Procurement

Cundall offer a comprehensive ESD and engineering design service for all building types and sizes. Refer to Projects for examples of these. Our services include: Concept Design – developing innovative and smart solutions for new and refurbished buildings during the early stage of the design process. Building Services Engineering – design & documentation of mechanical, electrical, fire and hydraulics services with a strong emphasis on ESD, supported by building simulation and whole-of-life assessment.

Metrics

There are a range of rating tools and systems either in the market or under development in Australia. Cundall can provide you advice on which rating tool is applicable to your building, how to improve the rating for the least cost and the compliance issues and requirements for formal certification. We can also manage the process of gathering all the documentation necessary to achieve formal certification, including undertaking building simulation as required.

Building Simulation

The team at Cundall have extensive experience in the use of computer simulation to predict the energy and environmental performance of buildings in Australia and Europe. This experience is critical to getting accurate results to prove design concepts, estimate operational performance, and for use in certified Green Star and NABERS Energy (formerly ABGR) design ratings.
