DTI`s PowerMod™ solid-state modulators and power supplies are built from a series stack of FETs or IGBTs, configured for very high voltage standoff, and operated as a single ideal switch. Gate drives are highly synchronized to ensure the load on the switch is shared equally between devices. The entire switch can be quickly and arbitrarily closed or opened, providing sub-microsecond removal of stored energy from the load during a short. DTI`s pulse modulators have onboard gate drives, diagnostics, and fault detection. Each switch operates fully isolated from ground, and can open without damage under fault currents to 10 kA. The patented technology is scalable, enabling a modular approach to building switches from 2.5 kV to over 200 kV, at currents from 10 A to 5000 A.

PowerMod high voltage power supplies offer advanced high voltage power conditioning for demanding laboratory and manufacturing applications such as radar, magnet control, magnetron heating, lasers, electron beams, and RF transmitters. High efficiency and a small footprint mean DTI power supplies can significantly reduce facility and utility costs.

DTI`s universal high frequency power converter architecture can be used for a wide range of applications requiring AC-to-DC and DC-to-DC power conversion. The higher control bandwidth provided by high frequency switching allows the output power to be highly regulated into nonlinear and transient loads.

Pulsed Electric Field (PEF) processing uses a high-energy pulsed electric field to break open vegetative cell walls in a process called `electroporation`. PEF processing can destroy pathogens in liquid food and wastewater; increase yields in starch and sugar extraction from plants such as sugar beets; and aid the dewatering digestion of biomass, enabling its conversion to alternative fuels.

DTI builds compact, turn-key transmitter systems for a wide range of fixed and mobile radar and RF applications. Turn-key systems typically include all required electronics between the power source and the vacuum electron device (VED) or RF output device, as well as power distribution units, transmitter controls, environmental controls and cooling/air conditioning networks. Subsystem configurations for integration into existing systems are also available. DTI’s high voltage solutions encompass breakthrough, high performance power supplies, pulse modulators, voltage regulation, and advanced control systems. Diversified Technologies, Inc. (DTI) develops compact, solid-state magnetron transmitters that deliver peak powers of 3 kW, 50 kW, and 1 MW at frequencies ranging from K-band to S-band. These compact, solid-state modulator systems replace many tube-based designs and deliver greater reliability than first generation solid-state systems. The transmitters are built upon new circuit topologies developed at DTI, meeting the magnetron`s unique requirements for dV/dt control and constant current operation.
