EMPO-NI´s `Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT)` Solar battery charger `SOL-1` is suitable for solar panels of up to 100W and can charge alternatively 12V batteries out of 12V solar panels (`step down conversion `) OR as the only charger 24V batteries out of a 12V solar panel (`step - up conversion `). EMPO-NI have fundamentally researched on new topologies for battery charging and realized a by means of modern microprocessor technology a charger which automatically determines the conversion mode `up` or `down` and optimizes the operation point of the connected solar panel by MPPT in order to reach highest system power.

In cooperation with Moerk Water, EMPO-NI has developed the drive of this system, which is now operated exclusively with Solar Energie and does not require a battery.

Our SOLmini series of PWM controlled battery charger controller are integrated into the PV-panel`s junction box. SOLmini`s are available for various current (0-9A) classes and battery voltage  ranges (9V-48V). Over 20 different SOLmini models are currently manufactured and we provide some of them as custom models.

A modified Solar Direct Drive for use in small acreage pivot irrigation applications. Today pivot irrigation systems are typically used for areas greater than about 25 hectares and require grid power supply or diesel generators in any case. EMPO-NI`s entirely PV-solar powered system for smaller pivot irrigation requirements has selected for the European Union funded research project "WEAM4i" that researched potential solutions for small off-grid pivot irrigation systems. Today the modular Pivot Drive 550 high torque is developed to drive pivot towers covering areas of typically 10-15 hectares. The control signals are compatible with standard Pivot controls of leading manufacturers.
