Comprehensive development and test facilities for a range of thermal power and heat transfer systems are available at Energy Technology Centre. 

Energy storage is recognised as a key enabling technology for the large scale deployment of intermittent renewable energy systems at a local and national level.

Fuel cell performance measurement and development of fuel cell applications can be undertaken in Energy Technology Centre facilities.  Experimental measurements and complementary analytical studies can support different aspects of fuel cell development:

The Energy Technology Centre steam system comprises 2 x 2 MW steam generators, delivering steam throughout the laboratories for test and development projects.

A small steam boiler is available at Energy Technology Centre`s facilities for research and development of burner technologies and new fuels.

Energy Technology Centre`s gas turbine is available for research and development of fuels and associated technologies.
