Uses agricultural by-products as a cellulose structure on which to build ion-exchange and sorption media that remove more than 95% of dissolved metals. The process uses food grade materials and thermal-mechanical processing to create binding sites for multi-valent cations. The media selectively absorbs heavy metals, suspended solids and phosphates to levels below stormwater benchmarks and clean-up background levels.
