The Northeast energy system is evolving at an unprecedented pace. Increasing electrification, growing data center loads, ambitious state decarbonization targets, and the emergence of new clean energy resources, such as offshore wind and hydrogen, are reshaping the grid faster than ever. These changes, combined with aging transmission and distribution infrastructure that faces capacity limits, deferred maintenance, and vulnerability to extreme weather, are placing stress on the system, raising concerns about reliability and affordability, and challenging traditional planning, permitting, and market approaches. At the same time, federal funding and state policy reforms offer significant opportunities and risks for stakeholders across the region. The Northeast Energy Summit brings together regulators, utilities, developers, financiers, and innovators to confront these challenges head-on and explore actionable solutions.
