Monocrystalline solar cells are recognisable by their black to black-blue colour.  Each cell consists of a single crystal. Compared to other silicon cells, monocrystalline cells have the best efficiency, however a lot effort is involved in their production and therefore they are more expensive than polycrystalline cells.  They are used when only a limited area is available for the generation of power

Polycrystalline or multicrystalline solar cells  are recognisable by their blue surface.  Their crystal structure is ordered only in parts. Therefore, they have a slightly higher internal resistance, which is reflected in a somewhat lower efficiency. Polycrystalline cells are easier to manufacture, cheaper to purchase and the most widely used technology in photovoltaics.

The FATH JOULE Thermal Module can be installed on its own or can be combined with the FATH VOLT photovoltaic panel or with the perfectly fitting roof window, FATH SKY, into a homogenous roof surface.The roof-integrated solar collector is used for domestic water heating and can also be used to support heating systems, or used incombination with a heat pump. Although it has very low construction height of only 50 millimetres, the efficiency of this completely sealed glass-to-glass module exceeds that of normal thermal modules. Furthermore, there are no problems whatsoever with condensation inside the module. This is achieved through the use of an inert gas (Argon) as a filling agent which is common for insulation glass.

In addition there is no possibility of condensation within the module. This is possible due to rare gas filling (Argon) known from the insulation glass sector.
