Hafslund ASA services

Borregaard Waste to Energy is situated at Borregaard’s industrial area in Sarpsborg. The plant, which is owned and managed by Hafslund, started production in March 2010.This is a modern fuel-flexible plant with a high environmental standard. The plants will significantly reduce the use of heavy oils and thereby the release of fossile CO^₂. The impact study shows that the total air quality in Sarpsborg will be improved.The plant, which will provide industrial steam to Borregaard, will each year burn approx. 80 000 tons of waste based fuel. The annual energy production will be approx. 230 GWh.

Hafslund Varme AS is Norway’s largest district heating provider with 33 percent of total production of district heating in Norway.The company distributes close to 1,8 TWh district heating in Oslo and Akershus counties (office buildings and private housing). Hafslund Varme generates and operates district heating for Oslo Airport Gardermoen and the surrounding business and industrial area, and also operates district heating for the center of Kolbotn and Mastemyr Business Park.There is a pronounced potential for growth in Oslo. The company faces challenges connected to both expansion of the distribution network as well as increasing production capacity.
