Filter Chokes
Filter chokes protect reactive power compensation equipment from overload caused by excessive harmonic levels in medium and low voltage distribution systems. They are also used in a variety of configurations of harmonic filters to remove unwanted harmonics from electric power systems. MANGOLDT produces iron core filter chokes for low and medium voltages, in single- or three-phase construction, for tuned and detuned filter applications. Chokes are custom designed to serve unique requirements based upon site conditions especially harmonic levels and ambient temperature. Designs will be customized to meet customer needs - from winding of the coils with copper wire, copper or aluminium foil, various termination options, to temperature monitoring. Upon request, we can perform a type test complete with temperature rise test under specific operating conditions including harmonics currents.
Line / Load Chokes
MANGOLDT offers a standard product range of 5-in-1 Line/Load chokes for adjustable speed drive applications to ensure trouble-free operation of your facility. As a reliable solution for adjustable speed drives, AC to DC converters, active front ends and frequency inverters, line chokes reduce harmonic current distortion and absorb voltage transients. They efficiently decrease harmonic currents that flow through facility transformers and onto the upstream power system (network). The line chokes` impedance can also limit starting and peak currents associated with energizing converters thus protecting your electronics. Additionally, charging peaks in capacitor circuits are dampened. Both effects increase the lifetime of the installation. The MANGOLDT standard product range offers each line choke with rated impedance values of 3%, 4% or 5% and is available from stock. Therefore, more than 100 different products are immediately ready for dispatch from Germany, Taiwan, USA and Canada
Compensation Chokes
Compensation chokes are an essential part of reactive compensation systems for industrial facilities. They are often used to produce the necessary inductive reactive power for compensating cable or mains capacitance. MANGOLDT compensation chokes are available in single- and three-phase designs for applications in low-voltage and medium-voltage grids up to a system voltage of 36 kV. The long-lived and highly precise chokes make any reactive compensation system a reliable cost saver. For use in the North-American area, the MANGOLDT low-voltage versions of the compensation chokes are also available as CUL Listed or cUR recognized products.
Air Core Chokes
Air core chokes have a core of air or non-ferrous or non-conductive material. This makes them highly suitable for high frequencies and current limiting applications. Free of ferromagnetic materials, they avoid saturation, eddy current loss and hysteresis loss. Air core chokes by MANGOLDT effectively limit switching peak inrush currents in reactive compensation and other capacitor based equipment. Optimally designed for the capacitor rated current, these chokes serve to dampen the incoming currents so as to safely protect the capacitors and their wiring. MANGOLDT air core chokes serve as current limiting chokes mostly to limit short-circuit currents in downstream equipment. As a result, the switchgear, cables and other elements used can be designed for a much lower short-circuit power.
