Hydroalp installs Francis turbines for medium head plants from a few tens of meters up to about one hundred meters, with flow rates from a few tens of liters up to a few cubic meters per second. Francis turbines are the most efficient turbines available. On the other hand, their operating capacity is limited with variable flow, therefore in some cases, it is necessary to distribute the maximum flow rate among various groups of them. Because they are of reaction type, these turbines are equipped with an exhaust diffuser that allows to exploit the whole head available.

Hydroalp provides Kaplan turbines for low head plants, from a few meters to tens of meters, with discharge from a few cubic meters up to a few tens of cubic meters per second. Kaplan turbines are the best technical solution for all those sites where low head and high flow coexist. Kaplan turbines are available in various configurations to better suit the characteristics of a site and with single as well as double regulation, depending on the necessity to operate at low flow rates. Because they are of reaction type, these turbines are equipped with an exhaust diffuser that allows to exploit the whole head available.

Hydroalp supplies Pelton turbines for high head plants from almost one hundred meters up to overone thousand meters, with flow rates from a few liters to a few cubic meters per second, thanks to the possibility to vary the number of jets. In special cases like culverts or micro power plants, we can also offer system solutions based on PAT technology (pumps used as turbines). Thanks to the possibility to supply a wide variety of turbines, Hydroalp can always find the ideal solution for your power plant. As shown by our project “HYDROGEN”, designing small plants with the required accuracy and attaching great attention to every single project are the key to achieving concrete results.

Hydroalp provides hydrodynamic screws for low head plants from a few meters to tens of meters and with flow rates from a few cubic meters up to a few tens of cubic meters per second. Screws (or Archimedean screws) are the ideal solution for all those power plants, where the use of Kaplan models would be uneconomic due to the combination of low power and low output. Depending on the flow rate fluctuations, screws can operate at fixed or variable speed. Variable speed turbines allow to modulate the turbine input flow rate while keeping the up stream level constant and thus maintaining optimal operating conditions.

Hydroalp designs all electrical power and control systems necessary for plant operation and its connection in parallel with the grid. In particular, we supply control systems for turbine-generator units and auxiliary equipment such as central sluice gates and trash rack cleaners, remote control systems to constantly monitor and control your plant from anywhere you are and low and medium voltage switchboards for the connection necessary to feed the produced energy into the grid. All these power and control systems are an integral part of power plant equipment and are designed, built and installed by our staff, in order to ensure you quality and reliability.
