FlareWell^® waste gas burners form part the anaerobic digestion process. FlareWell is designed to burn gas from the digestion process in excess of the gas necessary for the sludge heating system. The burner is automatic in operation and uses digester gas and/or LPG for pilot supply.

To maintain the temperature within an anaerobic digester to within the mesophilic range of 35 – 38 Deg C, a sludge heating exchange system is used. A portion of the sludge is re-circulated continuously through a tube in tube type sludge heat exchanger using a sludge recirculation pumps.

Acid phase digestion pre-treatment results in increased production of biogas with higher removal rates of volatiles as compared to standard anaerobic digestion technologies. Hydroflux Epco has provided a number of BioCap^® units with diameters as small as 7m for these applications.
