J & J Carter have partnered with Bioplex, to develop a new generation of an anaerobic digester (AD) for smaller, family-sized farms, the Farm250 Anaerobic Digester System. The anaerobic digester allows for sustainable farming, whilst reducing costs and minimising environmental impact. Anaerobic digestion is complementary to other renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar and micro-hydro. With a new generation of digesters, the farm can meet all its energy needs, with the surplus energy made available for the local community.

Biogas is a type of fuel that is naturally produced from the decomposition of organic waste. When organic matter, such as agricultural waste and plant material, break down in an anaerobic environment (an environment absent of oxygen), they release a blend of gases, primarily methane and carbon dioxide. The gas that remains can be used to produce fuel, heating and generate electricity. Biogas generation recovers waste materials that would otherwise fill landfills, prevents the toxic use of chemicals in sewage treatment plants and saves money, energy and material by treating waste on-site. Our covers are used to store this biogas that is a universal source of renewable energy. Biogas is storable without loss and not subject to weather conditions.
