Biomass Cogeneration Services
Our heating solutions can be used in a cogeneration process, to produce a combination of heat and electricity from biomass. This type of solution is extremely energy-efficient and is of great benefit to energy-intensive industries, which require both heat and electricity for process use. The excess electricity may be sold to existing utility companies, while any excess heat may be sold to neighboring industries or to a district heating system, thereby producing additional revenues to the client.
Biomass Gasification Services
Lakson can design a thermal process in which biomass waste is first transformed into a clean-burning synthetic gas, or “syngas”. This syngas is a renewable source of energy which is used, much like natural gas, in the following applications: in a gas burner, to produce heat for a boiler, dryer, furnace etc.; in a gas turbine or gas engine, to produce electricity; Under relatively low-oxygen conditions, biomass is typically heated in a gasification chamber; critically, there is no combustion involved in the process. This allows the decomposition of biomass into its various compounds, and the subsequent formation of syngas.
Biochar Production
Since 1998 we have helped multiple wood industries municipalities around the world improve their environments with value-added solutions.? Lakson has been focusing on waste valorisation including biomass plastic/tire/rubber recycling, oil sludge treatment, paper recycling, and sewage sludge management.
Solutions - Combustion of Biomass
Dust Combustion Solution
Our dust burning technology efficiently burns the dry/fine biomass powder produced by our conditioning process. The biomass is typically conditioned to a moisture content of less than 10% and particle size of 1 mm. The hybrid dust burner can be installed on the wall of a boiler, a dryer, a combustion chamber or other heat-demanding equipment. The Lakson solution regulates the flow of biomass powder to the combustion system.
Pellet Combustion Solution
Our thermal solutions can also use biomass pellet burners to provide heat from pellets. These solutions are typically designed for small and medium capacities – up to 10 MMBtu/hr – and can be installed on the wall of a boiler, a dryer, a combustion chamber or other heat-demanding equipment. The combustion of pellets in dedicated pellet burners offers many of the advantages of the dust burner, in terms of thermal efficiency, combustion control, ash release, particulate emissions etc.
