Thermal Energy Storage System

MGTES is a long life and innovative Thermal Energy Storage (TES) solution. developed and consolidated by Magaldi in recent years, capable of playing an important role in the global decarbonization and energy optimization of industrial process. MGTES is a high temperature TES featured by fluidized bed of solid particles capable of receiving energy in the form of both electricity and heat trough immersed elements. It stores energy and releases it when is most needed. MGTES technology is a modular system that provides flexibility in the system in wich is integrated and represents a Long Thermal Storage solution.

STEM®-CST Concentrated Solar Thermal

STEM® (Solar Thermo-Electric Magaldi) is a patented concentrating solar technology, which uses a mirror system to concentrate the sun`s light energy on a receiver and convert it into heat. The heat can be used to power industrial thermal processes or to drive steam turbines to produce electricity. The STEM® technology contains a TES (Thermal Energy Storage) system directly integrated into the solar receiver that is used to generate energy during cloudy periods and also even when solar radiation is no longer available (eg. hours after sunset or before sunrise). This feature makes STEM® a flexible source of renewable energy that can be dispatched on-demand.

Heliostat & A.I. Control System

Heliostats, or sun-tracking mirrors, concentrate sunlight by focusing it onto a target, producing temperatures of hundreds of degrees useful for generating heat and power. Magaldi designed the heliostat entirely with the collaboration of research centers, scientific institutes, and CSP industry partners. CNR-INO, Fraunhofer institute, and ENEA institute examined the most important performance characteristics, such as solar specular reflectivity and surface error. Heliostat is designed to withstand maximum wind speed up to 100 km/h and is equipped with a silver glass mirror specifically developed for solar applications, which can withstand environmental corrosion of mirror’s silver coating and edges.

Photovoltaic

Using the deep know-how acquired in the design and erection of large industrial plants, Magaldi can design, install and operate photovoltaic plant up to 50 Mwe. Following a careful qualification of its suppliers, Magaldi has signed different partnerships with the main reference companies and is therefore able to offer the best technologies currently available on the market at the best quality/price ratio.
