MAHLE electric drive systems represent an optimal solution for different types of drive systems for numerous applications. From two-wheelers, passenger cars, commercial vehicle, golf carts, utility vehicle, non-road mobile machinery or material handling vehicles MAHLE can provide the best suitable traction system that integrates an efficient combination of electric motor and corresponding controller, in some cases also gearbox. Even individual components of HV electric drive systems, like stators, rotors and electronic controllers, can be designed and produced in a way that they can be integrated in the specific customer drivetrain design. MAHLE has a range of motors available, designed for system voltage from 24 to 800 V and with the mechanical power output from 1 to 250 kW. Specific design options can be developed in compliance with the particular customer needs.

Applying its high-level systems expertise, MAHLE develops holistic thermal management solutions for electric vehicles, which cover interior temperature control as well as thermal management of the technical drive components. E-mobility will be a key component of CO2-neutral individual transportation over the long term. MAHLE aims to be one of the innovation drivers in this field too. The refined management of the occurring heat flows is the foundation for the performance, cruising range, and service life of electric vehicles.

The increasing electrification of the powertrain is one of the biggest technological trends in the automotive industry. In order to cool the lithium-ion battery and the power electronics of hybrid and electric vehicles, temperatures of below 40°C have to be reached, which is accomplished by interlinking the low-temperature and refrigerant circuits. This results in new, complex circuits that place significantly higher demands on the individual components and the control system.

Today’s fuel-efficient engines do not always deliver sufficient waste heat to enable rapid heating of the vehicle cabin, particularly for cold starts and in certain driving conditions. To keep the windows clear and ensure optimum thermal comfort in these situations, additional heating is provided by electric PTC auxiliary heaters that run on energy from the vehicle electronics. The heaters are available with or without an integrated controller.

Fuel filter modules for commercial vehicles efficiently prepare diesel fuels for the combustion process. For this purpose, they use high-separation filter media and feature an advanced functionality scope. For diesel engines, the functional range of the MAHLE fuel filter modules can be rather complex. The fuel can be cooled or heated, for example, or the water content of the fuel can be separated.
